Sort of the “nature versus nurture” thing isn’t it? While I believe there are indeed natural born writers – it takes hard and consistent work to become successful at it. Just being able to tell a good story doesn’t make one a good writer. Some of the best authors in the world had to write many a story before they were finally published. Additionally, many a writer that were published were before their time and didn’t become popular until well beyond their deaths.

Bottom line – even natural born writers need to work hard to hone their skills.
