Why Should I Follow You?

Today, a lot of people, on a lot of different platforms, are saying that Twitter is the next big thing. While I am no one to predict the future – nor am I going to try – but I can safely say that Twitter is the current big thing. There have been many social networking sites in the past, but none has seen the kind of rise in following as Twitter has. Also, the number of celebrities on Twitter, I am sure, beats all others. No wonder, Twitter dreams of being the first web site to cross the one billion user mark, and thereby becoming the pulse of the planet.

One of the reasons for Twitter’s popularity is its simplicity. You follow people, and people follow you, and that’s it.

But, why should anyone follow anyone? Why should I follow you? I will leave it to you to answer that question, but I will tell you why you should follow me.

Saying it Anonymously Vs Saying it Openly

Which Way to goThere is no right or wrong way, it is simply the way you do it.

This is true about most things, and blogging is no exception. Most of the times, as bloggers, we are looking for the right way to blog. What is the right frequency of blogging? What is the best platform to blog? What is the best commenting policy? and the list goes on.

One question that often comes up is whether a blogger should blog anonymously, or should a blogger reveal all the details about oneself, or should some middle path be followed. Different bloggers offer different solutions to the problem.

But, I feel, that there is no solution to the problem that can be generalized. Only you can decide what is best for you, depending upon what is the reason behind your blog. For example, if you are blogging to become a problogger (if that is a word), then there is no reason you should blog behind a screen name; but if you are blogging to vent out some steam, and do not harbour any ambitions about becoming the most famous blogger out there, then blogging anonymously makes a lot of sense. Who knew?

The last month was supposed to be a month of hectic blog advertising, campaigning and contests.  As planned, the month started on the right note with a 6000 Entrecard credits contest and an advertising space contest. But from then on, it didn’t go as planned, to say the least.

I could give many reasons as to why I could not proceed as per my original intentions. But then I am reminded of this line :

“One who wants to do something will find a way, one who doesn’t will find an excuse.”

Since, I don’t want to be the one to find excuses, I will move on…

Though the last month didn’t go as planned, a contest was still held. If the contest was held, a winner must necessarily be chosen. So, using the site random.org, a winner for the 6000 EC credits has been picked.

And the winner is Justin from Finish Writing.

Congratulations to you!

Rahul had by now crept into the front seat too.

“The notes are not jsut big ones, but there are small ones too,” Rahuls said, “we will need two big bags…at least.”

“The notes being small, and used, is a good thing in many ways…they are harder to trace.” Vikas replied, his mind, it seemed, was still focused on how to hide the money.

“We have two big bags… but where do we take them.  We can’t take them home. Let’s go to a place where there are a lot of people , say a bus stop first.”

“Why ?” Rahul was bewildered.

Vikas smiled sheepishly, and replied, “ I have a phobia of the sniffer police dogs. Whenever I have planned a crime in my mind, I have always been scared of being found out by them.”

Rahul was thoughtful again, “ You know, you could be a great criminal, at least you think of everything.”

Vikas laughed, “ What do you mean I could be a great criminal, I am a great criminal.”

Then Vikas came back and yelled, “If anyone of you still feels like a hero, you can tell me right now, so that I can end your sad and sorry life without further wait. We are here for the money and we will leave with the money, we don’t want to hurt any of you unless you give us a reason to do so.”

Rahul was shocked at what Vikas seemed to have done. It seemed to me that he would faint, but Vikas quickly got near him and whispered in his ears, “I didn’t kill him, don’t worry.”

Then he continued in the loud tone,”Take these handcuffs and cuff each of them. Vikas took the gun from Rahul, who then cuffed and  gagged the captives. Over the gag, Vikas taped their mouths shut. It was clear that Vikas knew what he was doing, and that none of the captured would be able to emit a sound or break free for a long time.
